Living with hip and knee pain limits your ability to live an active lifestyle. Attend this free one-hour seminar on joint pain. Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program

In this Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program, emphasis is placed on gentle range of motion and flexibility. Partcipants do not need to know how to swim. A physician approval letter the first night of class is required in order to participate. Wear a swim suit and bring a towel. Class will be held in OSF St. Joseph Medical Center's Rehabilitation Center located on the upper level at the Center for Health at Ft. Jesse, 2200 Ft. Jesse Rd., Normal. Baby Basics

Baby Basics focuses on preparing for the hospital stay and readying your home for a new baby. This course is designed to answer questions and ease concerns before your baby is born. Beginning Tai Chi

Cardiac Calcium Scoring

This non-invasive screening is an overall assessment of global risk for heart disease, and is the only screening test that looks directly at the heart's arteries. FIVE MINUTES COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! Cardiac Rehab Phase 3

Phase 3 Rehab is open to anyone in the community that has known heart disease (ie: heart attack, angina, heart surgery) and those that are at risk for heart disease. All under the monitoring and guidance of professional staff consisting of registered nurses and exercise specialists. This program is also appropriate if you have diabetes, hypertension, obesity, high cholesterol, stressful lives, or a positive family history. A physician's order is required. The program consists of stretching and flexibility exercises, light weights for strengthening, aerobic exercise, including use of treadmill, airdyne bicycle, recumbent and upright stepper, recumbent bike, arm ergometer, rowing machine, and elliptical trainer. Phase 3 Rehab is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays in the Center for Advanced Medicine at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Cholesterol/Blood Glucose Screening with Fingerstick

Screening includes a finger stick blood sample that measures: total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, and blood glucose. A blood pressure screening and healthy lifestyles counseling by a certified conselor is given with immediate results. Twelve-hour fasting recommended. The cost is $25. Freedom from Smoking - A Smoking Cessation Program

Smoking is the most preventable cause of death in our society. Now is the time to quit smoking with the American Lung Association's "Freedom from Smoking" program. The cost is $45 for each 60-minute session and is held at the Center for Healthy Lifestyles.

Grief Support Groups--Bloomington/Normal & Clinton

Grief Support Group meetings are open to persons who have experienced a recent loss through bereavement. Meetings are led by the OSF Hospice Bereavement Coordinator. The Bloomington/Normal Area Grief Support Group is cosponsored by OSF Hospice and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Infant Massage

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) Screenings

Peripheral Vascular Disease, or PVD, most common in persons over 50 years of age, is a medical condition in which the arteries in the legs are clooged or narrowed. Pilates

Using your body's own weight as resistance, Pilates stretches, strengthens, and tones the body without the use of machines. Specialized exercises increase flexibility, improve posture and relieve muscle tension. Wear loose clothing and bring a non-slip mat. Pregnancy Massage Therapy

Pregnancy massage therapy is beneficial throughout the nine months of pregnancy. This class is designed to instruct you and a partner on techniques which can help you relieve some of the discomfort associated with pregnancy. Massage during pregnancy may be very beneficial in promoting relaxation, soothing nerves, and relieving strained back and leg muscles. Prepared Childbirth Classes

The Birthing Center at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center offers a series of classes to prepare expectant parents for childbirth through education and relaxation. Prepared Childbirth classes will be held for four consecutive weeks on the dates listed below. Two-part classes are also offered on the weekend dates listed below. Couples should wear comfortable clothing and bring two pillows and a blanket. We recommend you begin these classes at the start of the seventh month of pregnancy. The YWCA Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) offers free Medicare counseling services to older adults and their family members held in the Center for Healthy Lifestyles at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Tai Chi Level II

Participants will learn additional movements beyond the basics. This class is open to individuals who have previously taken beginning or basic Tai Chi. Classes will be held at the Ft. Jesse Center for Health, Wesley Becker Conference Room, 2200 Fort Jesse Road, Normal. The class is $50 for eight sessions and is taught by Jiong Gu, AC and C.H. (NCCA). Teens Can Cook, Too!

Teens 12 years and older (parent optional) will have fun cooking together as Registered Dietitian Kim McClintic demonstrates how you can include your child in meal preparation. Participants will prepare Turkey'n String Cheese Bites, Tasty Tortilla Pizza, and Sunny Morning Sundaes. Class will meet at the Center for Healthy Lifestyles at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. The Beat Goes On-Eat Heart Smart

Cooking for a healthy heart means understanding different types of fat, cholesterol, fiber and sodium, and how they affect your heart. Join Kim McClintic, Registered Dietitian, as she shows you how easy it can be to cook heart smart. The menu includes: Mango Black Bean Salsa Spiced Salmon over Garden Couscous, and Bean, Barley and Sweet Potato Stew, with Banana-Berry Creams for dessert.
