BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – OSF St. Joseph Medical Center recently awarded six of its staff members with awards during National Nurses’ Week, May 4 – 8, 2008.

Pat Wedig, RN, received the Clinical Practice/Process Improvement Award as someone who fulfills many roles on a daily basis, including clinician and patient advocate. She is also recognized positively by patients and her peers as a mentor. Wedig works in the Comprehensive Care Center at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Nancy Boehner, RN, received the Education Excellence Award for her involvement with patients and staff to educate in stroke care. She has been a member of the Stroke Team and assisted in the achievement of Primary Stroke Center through The Joint Commission. Boehner works in the Ortho/Neuro unit of OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Kyle Scheuer, RN, was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award for his participation and involvement in professional and hospital efforts. Kyle also attended the Center for Frontline Leadership Program through the Nurses’ Executive Center and now serves as a coach for other nurses in the program. Scheuer works in the Comprehensive Care Center at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Kim Johnson received the Unit Secretary Award and Robert Herring received the Certified Nursing Assistant Award. Johnson works in Ortho/Neuro and Herring is in the medical center’s Comprehensive Care Center.
