BLOOMINGTON (September 6, 2006) – OSF St. Joseph Medical Center will be the exclusive provider of healthcare services and medical direction for the PrairieThunder hockey team at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum during the team’s 2006-07 season. There are 76 PrairieThunder hockey games scheduled with the home opener set for October 14 against the Fort Wayne Komets.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Drs. Rob Seidl and Anthony Dustman of the Sports Enhancement Center and Dr. Brett Keller of Central Illinois Orthopedic Surgery to provide the medical direction for the PrairieThunder,” says OSF St. Joseph Medical Center administrator Ken Natzke. “We are excited to have this opportunity and look forward to a successful first season,” he added.
As part of the agreement, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center will also provide an on-site urgent care physician for all hockey team members, as well as a dedicated first aid room staffed with a nurse for every hockey game.
The PrairieThunder hockey team, part of the United Hockey League (UHL), will conclude its regular season play on April 7, 2007.
