Kishore M. Karamchandani, MD, has been named medical director of OSF Critical Care, Pulmonary, and Sleep Medicine at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Dr. Karamchandani is a graduate of Bombay University, Bombay, India, and a member of the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom. He completed residencies at Grant Medical College, JJ Group of Hospitals in Bombay, and Mount Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He successfully completed a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care at Loyola University, Chicago.

Dr. Karamchandani is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine. He completed his medical degree in chest diseases and tuberculosis from Bombay University, obtaining the highest grades. He wrote his medical degree thesis on pleural disease. He has extensive experience with a wide range of lung diseases with a particular interest in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial disease. He also specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with sleep apnea.

Prior to joining OSF, Dr. Karamchandani served as an assistant professor at the University of Illinois Medical School, Peoria. He served as the medical director of the intensive care unit and sleep lab at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, and as a partner with Peoria Pulmonary Associates, which has served the Peoria and surrounding communities for the past 10 years.

Dr. Karamchandani is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Royal College of Physicians.
